This Bird Can WATCH YOU With Its Eyes CLOSED 😭 The Potoo!

Hey there guys! It’s Cataleya here, and today we are going to learn about a bird that honestly took a DARK turn 😂: the Potoo!

Here are 5 facts:

1. There are 7 species of potoos, and all of them are famous for their incredible camouflage skills! Like for real, I saw a picture of one hiding and I NEVER FOUND IT 😭

   
   

2. They have VERY large eyes so they can see in the dark! (But it also makes them look like a nightmare monster 😭)

   
   

3. No one really knows their exact lifespan 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s estimated to be around 12–14 years. (Wowie, River really is the oldest living bird 😭)

   
   

4. They can fly about 31 mph (50 km/h), but they usually choose to sit still and wait for prey instead.

   
   

5. They are able to “see” you with their eyes closed! They have tiny openings in their eyelids that let them sense movement even while resting. This helps them stay alert for predators while they camouflage themselves as tree branches during the day.
