🌈 Lorikeets: The Rainbow Birds! 🦜

Hey there guys! It’s Cataleya here, and today we are going to learn about a bird that is SO colorful, and people even keep them as pets!

Here are 5 facts:

1. Lorikeets have a specialized tongue with a brush-like tip that helps them collect nectar and pollen from flowers! They basically have a tiny flower brush in their mouth! 😂

2. Their diet is mostly nectar, fruit, and other sugary foods, which gives them lots of energy. Some lorikeets can fly really fast, so they definitely need that energy!

3. At dusk, hundreds of lorikeets can gather together in trees to sleep. They can make a VERY loud screeching racket before settling down! Imagine trying to sleep next to THAT. 💀

4. Lorikeets can live for many years, and some can live much longer under human care when they have good food, shelter, and veterinary care. I wonder why they can live longer in human care though!

5. Lorikeets can sometimes hang upside down from branches while looking for food. They don't seem to care which way is up! 😂

Lorikeets are SO cute! My dad wants to have one as a pet, and the zoo also has Lorikeet feeding areas where you can feed them. I think it would be really cool to have a bunch of colorful lorikeets flying around you! 🌈🦜
