Hey there guys! It’s Cataleya here, and today we are going to learn about another penguin

but this one is extra special! It is basically a King Penguin, BUT instead of the usual black-and-white colors, it is cream and gold. Meet the Golden Penguin! 🐧✨

Here are five golden facts:

  1. Golden penguins are a rare genetic mutation of King Penguins. They have something called leucism, which affects feather color and makes them much lighter than normal penguins.

  2. They are not albino penguins. Even though they look similar, golden penguins still have some color, while albino animals usually have no pigment at all.

  3. They can see normally. Unlike many albino animals, golden penguins do not have vision problems.

  4. They are SUPER rare! Scientists think only about 1 in 30,000 penguins could be golden wow! 😮

  5. Only a few have ever been seen. Very few golden penguins have been photographed, but there could still be more out there waiting to be discovered!

Golden penguins are so cool! 🐧💛 They live on South Georgia Island, and I live in Florida so I probably won’t find one here… but it’s still fun to dream! 😄
