1. They use their long, pointed beak to catch food like fish, frogs, and other small animals.

2. They get their name from the beautiful wing patterns that can look like a sun when their wings are spread!

3. Sunbitterns are mostly brownish-gray, which helps them blend into their surroundings. But when they open their wings… BOOM! 🌞

4. They are carnivores and eat things like frogs, fish, insects, crustaceans, and other small animals.

5. They can pretend to have a broken wing to distract predators away from their nest. Sneaky! 👀

6. They build their nests using things like sticks, leaves, and mud.

7. They spend a lot of time walking around near streams and rivers instead of flying everywhere. They CAN fly, though!

8. They have been observed washing food before feeding it to their chicks. Talk about cleaning up before dinner! 😂

I think they are so cool and elegant! And very large… or not, I honestly don’t know because I’ve never seen one. 😊
