🦅 Remembering Jackie the Bald Eagle

Hey there, my Lego Roses and Winged Wonders! 🌹🪽

Today we are talking about an eagle legend who sadly died today… Jackie the Bald Eagle. 🦅💔

Here’s Jackie’s story:

Jackie was a bald eagle who used to have a mate named Mr. B.

Mr. B and Jackie had two chicks named Stormy and BBB. (I still don’t know why the chick was named BBB 😭😂)

One day, Mr. B vanished, and another eagle named Shadow came to the nest. Jackie and Shadow eventually became mates.

Jackie was possibly born to two bald eagles named Ricky and Lucy, who were part of the early history of bald eagles in Big Bear Valley.

When Shadow came along, he and Jackie eventually had two babies named Cookie and Simba. Simba liked to land on a large tree near the nest, so people started calling it the “Simba Tree.” 🥹🌳

After about two years of crows and ravens causing trouble and eating their eggs, Sunny and Gizmo were finally born.

Sunny fledged first, and I actually got to see it on my PC while I was doing homework! 😮😂 After that, Gizmo was determined to fly too. Eventually, Gizmo finally fledged!

During all of this, there was also a squirrel named Fiona who apparently loved jumping on Jackie. 😂🐿️

A year later, Jackie laid eggs that unfortunately turned out to be infertile. Ravens ate the eggs, but Jackie amazingly laid two more eggs!

Those eggs became Sandy and Luna. 🐣🐣

They stayed around the nest for a few months. But then Jackie became sick, and she started acting unusually aggressive toward Shadow.

Things became very chaotic in Big Bear Valley. Jackie was attacked by other eagles and was eventually rescued and taken to the Ojai Raptor Center for treatment.

A week later, Sandy and Luna fledged. 🥹🪽

Shadow was then left alone at the nest. Another eagle eventually visited him. At first, Shadow rejected her, but eventually he seemed to accept her presence.

Sadly, Jackie passed away shortly afterward. 💔😭

Rest in peace Jackie. 🦅💛

You were one very famous eagle, and millions of people got to know you because of the Big Bear Valley nest camera.

I started watching Friends of Big Bear Valley in 2023 after seeing it on YouTube and deciding to watch. After that, Jackie and Shadow became something we would put on whenever there was nothing else to watch. 😂

Over time, they became very important to us, so it is heartbreaking to see Jackie die.
