Here are 5 facts:

1. Acorn Woodpeckers can visit bird feeders! They may visit seed and suet feeders near oak woodlands. Sometimes they even make holes in wooden siding while looking for places to store food! I would probably just accept it. I don't like scaring birds away. 😄😂

2. They can store thousands of acorns! Acorn Woodpeckers create special storage areas called "granary trees" where they hide acorns for later.

3. The oldest Acorn Woodpecker on record was at least 17 years and 3 months old! Getting close to River's age... but River will soon be older. 💀😂

4. Acorns aren't their only food! Even though their name is Acorn Woodpecker, they also eat insects, fruit, and tree sap.

5. They drill tiny holes into trees to store acorns!These little holes help them keep their food safe until they need it.
