Hi guys! It’s Cataleya - new week, new bird! This week’s bird is the amazing Gouldian Finch also called the rainbow finch (and trust me, they look like a flying rainbow!).
5 Fun Facts About Gouldian Finches:
Gouldian finches are also called rainbow finches or just “Goulds.”
Because of their super bright colors, they’re one of the most popular pet birds.
When a boy Gouldian wants to impress a girl, he shows off by bobbing his head, wiping his beak, and fluffing his feathers so his colors really sparkle🌈
They like living near water in open grassy plains with tall smooth-barked eucalyptus trees.
To hide from the hot sun, they perch under eucalyptus leaves but they still have to watch out for snakes, cats, and hawks!
I think Gouldian finches are soooo cool and soooo cute! I really wish I could have one as a pet, but sadly they’re endangered. A lot of people do keep them as pets (like in fact number 2), but I think they should live in the wild where they can fly free and eat their favorite snack seeds! 🌱
That’s it for this week’s bird! I hope you loved learning about the Gouldian Finch as much as I loved writing about it. Make sure to come back next week to meet another amazing bird friend.
Until then keep your wings flappy and your eyes on the skies! 🐦✨
